Today, it was announced by The Hollywood Reporter that Gladiator star Connie Nielson has joined the cast of Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman. She has been cast as Queen Hippolyta the Queen of the Amazons and Diana’s (Gal Gadot) mother. Originally Nicole Kidman was going to join the cast as the Queen but had to dropout in place of her upcoming series. Then rumors circulated that House of Cards star Robin Wright might take over the role from her original role in the film. This was of course did not happen and Wright stayed on as Diana Prince’s Aunt. Some think she is secretly playing the villain Circe but that is just speculation at this point…
