One of the greatest supporting roles last year easily has to be Tyler Perry in David Fincher‘s Gone Girl, which totally proved that Perry is a capable dramatic actor. The hope being that he’d pursue more weighted roles like that in the future, well that doesn’t seem to be case, at least with his next major studio project.
Variety reports that Perry will play a villain in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the character Baxter Stockman is the creator of the robotic menace the mousers and becomes a mutated fly villain. This feels like a bizarre choice for actor who was building-steam with a good reputation, doing a Ninja Turtle film feels like another Alex Cross move. Anyways, he’ll be joining other human actors Megan Fox who returns as April and Arrow‘s Stephen Amell that just landed the Casey Jones role, production is expected to begin soon in New York City.
I might be trashing the quality of the last film, but I do it as a fan of the original films, comics and old cartoon series. Updating the franchise is one thing, but dumbing it down for the Transformers crowd is another thing. I’m a bit more optimistic with new a screenwriter and director, and let’s just hope that we get to see Amell shine as Casey.
People attending CinemaCon have confirmed that Bebop and Rocksteady were revealed there by Paramount, and will be indeed be apart of the film. There’s some expectation that alien baddie Krang will factor into the film as he also had art developed but was cut from the film as well, now that they’ve done Shredder and the origin they can now obviously move towards more bizarre mutant and alien baddies. I’m curious who Paramount will end-up landing to voice the fan-favorite clumsy mutant villains.
Ninja Turtles 2 is slashing it’s way onto screens on June 3rd, 2016.
