‘Hannibal’ Star Mads Mikkelsen Enters Talks As The Villain in ‘Doctor Strange’

Today, Variety announced that longtime Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen has entered talks to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Mikkelsen has already been cast in another Disney blockbuster in Star Wars: Rogue One but is now looking to Marvel. Mads Mikkelsen was actually courted to play Malekith in Thor: The Dark World before dropping out to star in Hannibal.

Some might be confused given that Chiwetel Ejiofor has already been cast as Baron Mordo in the film. Mordo is typically known as Stephen Stranges arch enemy after their falling out with The Ancient One. It seems Marvel may keep Baron Mordo an ally of Stephen Strange until a sequel of the film…

While Mads Mikkelsen role is being kept under wraps it was revealed back in 2013 (via Latino-Review) that the primary antagonist for the film is actually Dormammu. Now this came from Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer draft of the film before Jon Spaihts took over. It’s entirely possible that they kept him as the films villain though…
