Helen Mirren’s wish to be in a Fast & Furious movie was granted last month, when it was announced that she’d joined the cast of Fast 8.
Last year the actress stated it was her great ambition to appear in the franchise, and that she had longed to play a “mad driver“. However whilst she may have got one of her wishes, that’s were her luck runs out as in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mirren revealed she wouldn’t be driving in the eighth installment.
“I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately I’m not… Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12… I’m probably one of the few people on the set who know how to drive a gear shift car. I doubt the Rock knows.”
That’s a bit gutting for her and us, I would have loved seeing her drift in a suped up muscle car alongside the likes of Vin Diesel and co.
She went on to reveal that she wouldn’t have a huge role to play in Fast 8, “I’ve only got one day [of filming], and I’ll probably f— it up, oh God.”
As you can see from Fast 8 star Tyrese’s Instagram, Mirren looked full of smiles as she messed around on set with him and director F. Gary Gray.
Fast 8 hits screens April 14th, 2017.
