Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #2

It’s impossible for readers to get comfortable while reading Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #2. Tom Taylor and Darick Robertson switch direction a few times throughout the issue, making it hard to anticipate what will happen page-to-page.
That’s not to say Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #2 lacks direction. Taylor and Robertson bring everything together, making every page count.
Of course, the ending is still impossible to anticipate how this will end — and more importantly, what the cost will be to find a resolution.
Part of what makes the Hellblazer: Rise and Fall story so unpredictable is Lucifer Morningstar getting in the mix. The Devil will probably get what he wants in the end, but what exactly will he desire by the end of the story? After spending a deal of time with John Constantine, Lucifer may want more than he did initially.
As for the artwork’s role in all of this, Robertson has an emphatic presence. A John Constantine story can go in any direction on its own, never mind this is a DC Black Label book. Bring in Roberston, who will draw absolutely grotesque act and make it look slightly rougher than it needs to be, with a pinch of humor, and you’ve got a story any John Constantine fan can enjoy.

If you didn’t fall for Lucifer’s prank, you’re lying. Completely got me.
Another thing that caught me off-guard was the ending of Hellblazer: Rise and Fall #2. Now that’s something I’m sure some saw coming. But for some reason, I was engulfed in everything else that took place before that I was caught by surprise.
