Hugh Jackman Advocates Tom Hardy Replace Him As ‘Wolverine’

Sep 24, 2015

While we are indeed a bit saddened by Hugh Jackman retiring the character Wolverine after Wolverine 3, which is said to be a cinematic adaptation of the Old Man Logan comics. It’s better to see him gracefully exit at the top, rather than being forced out by the studio or via low box office numbers.

The actor has finally mentioned a potential successor to the role while speaking with MTV, and names British actor Tom Hardy as someone who could take-on the Wolverine part.

“I think Tom Hardy could be a great [Wolverine].”

We’ve already mentioned our desires for a Wolverine reboot, that includes a prequel of sorts set during WWII. Funny enough, Tom Hardy was indeed on that original list of actors we’d love to see tackle the role once Jackman hung-up his claws.

With things like X-Force in development, an established solo franchise, and potential future X-Men installments, Fox won’t be sitting too long on their most popular mutant.

Wolverine 3 starts shooting this winter with a March 2017 release.
