Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey Will Star in Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’

Mar 1, 2016

Stephen King’s popular sci-fi novel series The Dark Tower has been on the back-burner for as film adaption for a very longtime. At one time it was considered to have a TV Series and Film series debut at the same time  in the same universe. However, it looks like a feature film will start production extremely soon.

Today, Entertainment Weekly announced that the film will star Idris Elba (Star Trek Beyond) as The Gunslinger. With  Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar) playing his arch-nemesis The Man in Black. Interestingly enough the film isn’t going to be a direct adaption of the first novel in the series. It’s actually set in “modern times” says the director Nikolaj Acrsel tells EW. Stephen King adds “[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they’ll get behind it, because it is the story.”

The Dark Tower hits January 17th, 2017
