Idris Elba Spotted In Australia and Likely Shooting ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Already

Sep 11, 2016

We had assumed that Idris Elba would be returning for Thor: Ragnarok, but nothing seemed to be set-in-stone. A bit of social media activity would suggest that the actor is now in Australia and possibly ready to shoot some scenes, after confirming that he’s completed work on The Dark Tower.

Elba confirming on Twitter that he’s wrapped filming on The Dark Tower, while appearing in a recent video with Ragnarok co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston promoting Australia’s Bryon Bay Film Fest. Confirming that Elba is in Australia and has likely begun shooting scenes for the film.

Last time we saw Elba’s character Heimdall he was warning Thor in Age of Ultron about dooming everyone to the realm of Hel, a precursor to the looming threat of Cate Blanchett’s Hela in the film.

Warriors Three actors Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano have been recently spotted in Australia, so we assume they’ll be returning for Ragnarok as well.

However, it hasn’t been confirmed or hinted if either Zachary Levi or Jaimie Alexander would be back in their Asgardian roles. Alexander is still currently shooting episodes for her NBC series Blindspot and could shoot scenes in pick-ups/reshoots, or she might be possibly nixed completely. Jaimie had said that fans shouldn’t worry, but it’s look less likely she’ll have a large role in the film if at all.

Levi was recently spending some vacation time in Bali.

You should really take a walk, on this lovely, sunny day. @thenerdmachine #GotNerch?

Meanwhile, a mystery actress was been spotted on the Brisbane set recently, which was doubling for scenes in New York City. Her costume seems worth covering-up from the cameras.

thor167_7-1Some speculation has risen that this actress could be playing Thor’s real mother, a double for Hela, Karnilla the Norn Queen, a fellow Valkyrie, Lady Loki or even a new actress playing Sif.

Considering that Marvel might have backed-off the use of Amora The Enchantress likely to remove confusion with Suicide Squad‘s Enchantress, they could easily replace her with another seductive magical villain like Karnilla or Doctor Strange‘s Morgan (villain of the 70s Doc Strange TV movie). Using either of these ladies could be an explanation for this rumored link between Ragnarok and Doctor Strange.

We’ve been waiting to see Loki paired-up with an equally mischievous villainess partner, but who knows if that will be Blanchett’s Hela or not.

Karnilla being a Queen and Loki currently posing as the King of Asgard, their team-up or relationship could make some sense.

Squeezing in as many unused Thor characters as possible might be tough if they’re also including the Grandmaster, Planet Hulk story elements and continuing to plant seeds for Avengers: Infinity War. We’ll have to wait and see who this actress is actually playing.

Thor: Ragnarok is still in production as it’s release date is set for November 3rd, 2017.
