Before getting into the actual story, I need to touch on this cover. Spawn books always have amazing covers, comic book diehards know this. But Jonathan Glapion’s King Spawn #6 cover is something else. Javier Fernandez’s variant is cool, too, but the main cover is twisted. Definitely one way to put a punctuation mark on the first arc.

As for the story, Sean Lewis and Javi Fernandez brought the opening arc to a close in a big way. While the final image we see displays how long the road ahead is for Al Simmons, the impact is made throughout the rest of King Spawn #6. Readers get a better sense of what’s going on with Billy Kincaid. Jason Wynn’s role in all of this is very much cleared up. Most importantly of all, we find out another major Spawn character could make an appearance in the pages of King Spawn at some point. The manner in which said character will appear is another story entirely. Either way, Lewis planted a seed that’s going to remain top of mind, and I can’t wait to see how Al handles the situation when the time comes.
Fernandez’s art continues to impress. In a way, he accents Lewis’ writing, but the inverse can also be said. And there are the times Fernandez brings things to a halt because there’s so much to take in.
