While we were slightly excited that Marvel Television was moving forward with an Inhumans series, it was going to be airing on ABC having us worried it would be handled by the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. creatives. Mainly, due to the fact that series had been incorporating Inhumans into their series, something I personally feared as that show isn’t exactly up to my quailty standards.
It looks like Marvel Television heard this discourse from fans, along with being puzzled the property wasn’t getting a film. They’ve pulled-out the big guns by announcing that they would be hiring a existing showrunner from the Marvel Netflix family, naming Scott Buck as showrunner.
Buck being the showrunner on their Iron Fist series and previous work on Dexter.
Fist is expected to be one of the more effects heavy of the Netflix series, so that could be a reason why he was being tasked for Inhumans.
However, it remains to be seen if we’ll see Agents cast members will join that series or have crossover episodes.
Here is the brief press release from Marvel.
“Marvel’s The Inhumans” has found its Showrunner in Scott Buck (“Marvel’s Iron Fist,” “Dexter”)!
Buck will serve as Executive Producer on the series, which will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.
“Marvel’s The Inhumans” will premiere a version of the first two episodes first in IMAX commercial theatres, marking the first time a live-action television series has debuted in this manner. The series, produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras, will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017. ABC plans to then premiere the weekly series in fall, with additional exclusive content that can only be seen on the network.
