Iron Man Will You Be My Best Man?

Feb 10, 2016

Dear Robert Downey Jr.,

My name is Will Elizondo. I know that this letter is going to sound like the typical, cliche fan letter, but I assure it’s much more. For starters, let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way. I am a huge fan! There, I said it. Besides the countless hours I have spent cosplaying as Tony Stark, the hundreds of dollars on Iron Man merchandise, or the fact that I trim my beard like Tony’s (hopefully I didn’t loose you after that), I can truly say that my respect for you is deep. I became a fan of yours at a young age. Way before the thought of you becoming Tony Stark on the big screen was ever conceived. My mom was was a fan and brought me up on romantic comedies like Chances Are and Heart and Souls. You have been an inspiration since then.

Why am I writing this letter you ask? For one reason… On April 9th, 2016, two days before my 35th birthday, I will be marrying the love of my life. And I thought… what would make the day even more incredible, then having someone who has always been a hero of mine, for most of my life, share the big day with us? So, I wanted to ask if you would be my honorary best man? Is this a crazy request? Yes!
Will it happen? Most likely not!

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t feel right not asking you. Your story got me through one of the hardest times in my life. You are not only one of the greatest Phoenix metaphors personified in human history, on and off screen, but you are just so damn cool!

If you actually see this letter, I thank you for taking the time to read it. I know you are busy with your awesome family and filming Civil War, but regardless it is much appreciated. Many thanks and best wishes.

Your fan for life,

Will Elizondo
