Last year, we reported that Warner Bros’ sequel to It would be returning to the Toronto/Port Hope area to shoot (mentioning a potential summer start). We have an update on the sequel.

Omega Underground has now learned the film’s potential production start date.

It: Chapter 2 is expected to begin principal photography on June 18th and stage work to take place at Pinewood Toronto Studios.

Filming could wrap sometime around October-November.

Port Hope doubled as Derry in the original and the idea is likely to film scenes during the summer break, in case they want to shut down roads and buildings for the shoot.

Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård is assumed to return as Pennywise the clown.

Jessica Chastain threw her hat in the ring to play the adult Bev as the sequel takes place 27 years after 1989. Director Andy Muschietti previously worked with Chastain on the film Mama and she has shot multiple films at Pinewood Toronto including Molly’s Game.

Casting for the adult roles hasn’t been announced and Chastain has yet to be confirmed.

The first chapter was a giant success for Warner Bros/New Line Cinema, as the R-rated horror flick earned a whopping $700 million worldwide on a budget of $35 million.

Screenwriter Gary Dauberman is set to write the sequel’s screenplay.

The studio has slated It: Chapter 2’s release for September 6th, 2019.
