Recently, in a video message to D23 Expo Japan writer-director J.J. Abrams finally confirmed that Star Wars: Episode IX would begin filming this summer.

He elaborated on Late Night with Stephen Colbert that production would begin in July and not June, as previously reported.

It’s not a huge deal considering the amount of prep involved with these films and how quickly J.J. and Chris Terrio were expected to turn in a script after Colin Trevorrow’s exit.

Casting seem to be the next big step with the script finished according to J.J.

Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
