Jackie Chan And Owen Wilson Are Finally Going To Make ‘Shanghai Dawn’

Sep 7, 2016

It’s been thirteen years since we last saw Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson team up for the buddy action comedy Shanghai Knights—the sequel to 2000’s Shanghai Noon. And if MGM get their way we could soon be seeing the duo once again for the long-awaited sequel Shanghai Dawn.

According to THR, Jared Hess the director of Napoleon Dynamite has been hired by MGM to direct Shanghai Dawn. The report goes on to say that both Chan and Wilson are in talks to reprise their roles in the franchise.

What’s interesting here is, no one is banging down the door for another Shanghai film. But with Jackie Chan currently dominating the Chinese box office with his latest release Skiptrace, which also stars Johnny Knoxville in another buddy action comedy, in the same vein as Rush Hour and the Shanghai films it’s more than likely MGM are wanting to ride Chan’s success and make some big money at the Chinese market.

No date has been set for the release of Shanghai Dawn.
