James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels Cast Announced; Collective Film Budget Over $1 Billion

Sep 27, 2017

Earlier, this week James Cameron finally began production on his four upcoming Avatar sequels. This is an adventure eight years in the making since the original film came out back in December 2009. Most of the cast is expected to return including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and (somehow) Stephen Lang.

However, today Entertainment Weekly revealed the newest members of the Avatar cast in the first behind-the-scenes set photo. The cast (above) includes newcomers Britain Dalton, Filip Geljo, Jamie Flatters, Bailey Bass, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, and Duane Evans Jr. Most of these will actually be Na’vi beside Javier “Spider” Socorro (in blue) who plays a 12-year-old human boy.

It was also revealed Monday at Deadline that the total collective film budget on all four sequels will surpass $1 billion dollars.  Which sounds daunting but due to the films massive sets and motion-capture technology makes a lot of sense.

Avatar 2 hits into theaters December 18, 2020
