James Wan Produced ‘Mortal Kombat’ Movie Eyeing Shoot In Chicago

Jun 27, 2018

We have a tiny update on New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat reboot film that James Wan‘s Atomic Monster is producing.

Things might be back on as they seemingly are now eyeing Chicago as a possible filming location.

It’s unknown if it’ll be used as an exterior location or will shoot at Cinespace Chicago Film Studio.

Previously, we mentioned Australia and New Zealand had also been eyed. I assume stage space at Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland and Stone Street Studios in Wellington were contenders.

Oddly enough, Wan’s Aquaman shot at Village Roadshow. New Line Cinema also has a long-standing relationship with Stone Street as it’s where their Lord of The Rings and Hobbit trilogies were shot.

When filming is expected to start is even less clear. The last concrete news came from Variety, who reported that Aussie Simon McQuoid was in talks to direct.
