It looks like Edgar Wright is finally rounding-out his cast for his action flick Baby Driver, a straight-up action genre story that he’s been developing for close to a decade. He previous cast Ansel Elgort and Lily James as his young leads, but has moved on to the antagonist of the film. Deadline reports that Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Ray) is now in talks for the role of the crime boss, who is the major villain.
Foxx is set to play a crime boss who coerces a young, talented getaway driver to work for him. Elgort pays the driver, who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. He must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
I’m digging the cast so far, but I’m curious how Wright will handle a non-comedic action film, which obviously will still have his brand of dry humor sprinkled-in.
