Jem and the Holograms #26
IDW Publishing

Written by: Kelly Thompson

It does not feel like only 26 issues of Jem and the Holograms.  Writer Kelly Thompson has taken us on an outrageous ride the past couple years with her characters.  She has explored a number of themes throughout the stories these issues hold.  Kelly has managed to do this without losing the charm that the characters came with.  Sadly, we are saying goodbye to this story… for now.  Who knows what is going to await our team of caring, colorful musicians?  I, for one, cannot wait for the Infinite story arc and crossovers.

I am not here to talk about what is to come, only Synergy knows that for sure, I am here to tell you about what is.

My Favorite Alt Cover!

In this closing issue, everything is getting wrapped up.  We find out what happened to Kimber… is that lava?!?!  Will Shana finally makes a decision about her part in the band? *play The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go”*  And most importantly, will Rio, or maybe even somebody else, reveal the secret that the band has been keeping (if you are new, Jem and Jerrica are the same person.)  Without giving any spoilers away in this review, just know that all of your questions will be answered before the curtain falls.

Come join Jem and the Holograms as they sing in a charity concert in Maui, deal with their rivals The Stingers, and try to make their world at least a little bit normal.  If you have not read the previous 25 issues, please go do so!  Not only are the very well written and beautiful drawn, the events that happen in 26 will make little to no sense without forming the relationship with the characters.  I have really enjoyed this updated version of Jem and I hope you will too!

Stay Outrageous!
