Last week, our friends over at ThatHashtagShow reported that Jeremy Renner had nabbed a lead role in the Spawn reboot alongside Jamie Foxx, stating the role was that of Detective “Twitch” Williams. Well, director/creator Todd McFarlane and the trades are now confirming their report.

It’s been said that the film would be follow Twitch’s perspective.

Also, Omega Underground has learned that The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero is expected to handle the film’s special effects makeup. He also worked on the original film from 1997.

Greg’s other credits include The Mist, Preacher, Sin City, Evil Dead 2, Predators, Planet Terror, and Inglourious Basterds.

Filming is expected to begin soon in New York City and possibly in a few other locations.

Blumhouse has yet to give the film a release date but could be ready for release sometime next year.
