Jessica Chastain In Talks To Join ‘The Division’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Recently, we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal would start and produce a feature adaptation of Ubisoft’s recent video game release Tom Clancy’s The Division. The Hollywood Reporter has word that Oscar nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is now in talks to for the female lead of the film.

Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to join Jake Gyllenhaal in The Division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ adaptation of its own hit video game.

The storyline is set in dystopian New York City after a smallpox pandemic. In the third-person shooter game, the player is an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, aka The Division, and is searching for the origins of the outbreak.

Chastain is no stranger to genre material with recent films including Mama, InterstellarCrimson Peak, The Huntsman: Winter’s War and The Martian. 

Ubisoft is attempting to package the project before shopping it to studios, Paramount (Splinter Cell), Sony (Watch Dogs) and New Regency/Fox (Assassin’s Creed) have picked-up their other film projects. Michael Bay is also developing a Ghost Recon film at Warner Bros.
