‘Jessica Jones’ Actor Wil Traval Teasing Role In ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’?

Jun 10, 2017

Aussie actor Wil Traval best known for the role of Will Simpson aka Nuke on Jessica Jones could be teasing a potential role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Thanks to a tip, Traval posted a Dark Phoenix celebration tweet back in April and possibly outed himself as landing/auditioning for a role. Casting for the film was well underway around this time as we had confirmed auditions were taking place.

Wil could just be a massive X-Men fan. However, Fox has been casting a steady stream of television actors for these new X-Men roles. One of the more recent additions to the franchise include his Jessica Jones co-star Rosario Dawson who landed the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes in New Mutants.

He’s also been following a lot of the X-Men alum including Bryan Singer, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ryan Reynolds, and Maisie Williams on social media. This isn’t a smoking-gun, but it’s hard to ignore that this sort of social media activity has hinted to some actors landing parts ahead of announcements.

He isn’t officially part of the cast of Jessica Jones season two, which is currently shooting in New York City. Although, it’s been confirmed that Krysten Ritter’s co-stars Carrie Anne-Moss and Rachael Taylor will be. Marvel has yet to announce the rest of the returning cast, so it’s possible Traval has an opening in his schedule.

Traval is currently in California and not New York, as this recent post on Instagram establishes. He would be on the wrong coast if he’s in Jessica Jones.

If we had to speculate, two roles Wil could be good for include Cyclops’ biological father the space pirate Corsair of The Starjammers or Shi’ar Empire’s Gladiator of the Imperial Guard. That is if we’re actually getting aliens in Dark Phoenix as we suspect we are.

Thanks to @XMenSaga for sending this our way last night.

Production on Dark Phoenix begins filming this summer with a release date of November 2nd, 2018.
