John Boyega has lined-up yet another high-profile project post-Star Wars as the Hollywood Reporter has learned the British actor has joined the cast of Kathryn Bigelow‘s next film.

Set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating riots that took place over five summer days in 1967, with the film seeking to explore the systemic racism in the city.

The picture is set to begin production this summer, shooting in both Detroit and Boston.

Game of Thrones actress Hannah Murray had been in talks for a leading role as well.

Boyega recently landed the lead in Pacific Rim 2, which is expected to begin shooting in the fall/winter.

A distributor hasn’t been named, but the film is eyeing a 2017 release date, I assume around in the fall or late summer.
