John Cena Joins ‘Bumblebee’ and Release Date Bumped To December 2018

Jul 31, 2017

The HollywoodReporter has learned that John Cena has joined the cast of Travis Knight’s Bumblebee, a spinoff of the Transformers franchise set in a small town during the 1980’s. We suspect his role will be the law in the small town, possibly the Sheriff.

The film’s official cast lineup includes Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lenderborg Jr., Jason Decker, Kenneth Choi, Richardo Hovos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny.

Also, below is the film’s official synopsis.

On the run in 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Omega Underground has been posting production details on the film including the California cities it will be shooting in.

Bumblebee recently had its release date bumped from June 8th, 2018 to December 21st, 2018.

So much for Han Solo taking that release spot with Aquaman and Bumblebee there.
