It seems like the start of Simon Spurrier’s finale with John Constantine is upon us. After a string of one-offs and mini-arcs, Spurrier included multiple characters from his time with everyone’s favorite con man in John Constantine: Hellblazer #10.
While Noah, Tommy and everyone else has been mixed in throughout other stories, those characters were only prominent in short bursts until John Constantine: Hellblazer #10. As enjoyable as Spurrier’s approach to this title has been — not necessarily connecting all the issues to each other — it was a nice change of pace to bring everything together in John Constantine: Hellblazer #10.
With every panel you wonder who Spurrier will bring into the mix, worrying for their safety and Constantine’s throughout.
And while Spurrier did a great job of telling the story, Matias Bergara and Jordie Bellaire kept pace as they tell us the story with their raw artwork. That’s been the case with Bellaire since John Constantine: Hellblazer #1. He’s reflected Spurrier’s dark tone every step of the way with his colorwork. These stories aren’t the same without Bellaire.
Can’t stress this enough: Spurrier and Bellaire have done very well with Constantine, it’s too bad they won’t get to work with the character longer.

Well, that was a trip.
With everyone’s safety so unclear after what happened this issue, is Constantine at all safe moving forward? Sure seems like he’s got a gigantic target on his back.
That’s the one good thing about Spurrier and Bellaire’s ending coming so early. They should have some room to put Constantine in a rough spot for a long time since it seems like the character could be on the bench for a while — aside from potential DC Black Label stories outside of continuity.
