‘John Wick 2’ Rounds Out Cast With New and Returning Actors; Ruby Rose Playing Crime Boss?

Nov 9, 2015

Deadline reports that even more actors will be returning for John Wick 2. They include John Leguizamo, Bridget Monahan, Tom Sadowski, and Lance Reddick, who we’ve been championing to see return along with confirmed returner Ian McShane.

Common (Selma, American Gangster) is said to be playing the head of security for a female crime boss, who may or may not be played by newcomer Ruby Rose. The Aussie model/Dj turned actress has been landing some high profiled gigs lately with Orange Is The New Black and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. I’d have to think she’d be landing the role, that’s unless she’s another assassin kicking it at the hotel. I am getting some Lisbeth Salander vibes from this lady, so it’s possible they might give that role to her to toughen up that character’s look. They could also go with a more seasoned actress for the big bad, but I think it would be interesting to see them go either way.

Other new additions include Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio (Burnt) and veteran Peter Stormare (Fargo, Constatine, Bad Boys 2).

Production is already underway in New York with plans to move the shoot to Rome.

I’m extremely curious if they’ll try to reunite Monica Bellucci and Keanu Reeves for a third time, as the pair worked together on Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Matrix films. If the film is indeed set in Rome, I could see Bellucci possibly playing this crime lord role as well, we’ll just have to wait and see. She’s also not a stranger to this sort of genre with films like Doberman and Shoot ‘Em Up being very tongue-and-cheek action flicks as well. Monica most recently played a Bond Lady in Spectre, which puts her back on the international radar and could help the profile of the film overseas.
