‘John Wick 3’ Lands The Working Title of ‘Alpha Cop’

Jan 11, 2018

Omega Underground has been closely updating fans on the progress of Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter 3, from its production bump from the fall into 2018 to entering pre-production last month (later confirmed by trades), and seeing the return of production designer Kevin Kavanaugh (John Wick: Chapter 2, The Dark Knight Rises).

Now, we’ve confirmed that the working title on the production will be Alpha Cop suggesting that things are moving along nicely.

Previously, John Wick: Chapter 2’s working title was Spear. Which I assume was a nod to the Holy Lance used by Longinus, a Roman centurion that stabbed Jesus in the side during his crucifixion. A huge clue that the setting would take place in Rome.

Could this working title be referring to John’s past, an ultimate assassin set on killing him or possibly a nod to the police officer referred to as Jimmy that keeps checking in on Wick at his home?

We currently don’t have set production dates (expected to begin shooting spring/summer) or locations for the film, but its expected to return to New York City. Keanu Reeves has teased locales such as Tokyo and Jerusalem in the past.

Lionsgate has set the release date for May 17th, 2019.
