Starz announced that they are developing a series based in the world of John Wick.
At the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Starz stated that they are developing a series called The Continental. The series will focus on the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel, which serves as a refuge for assassins in the film. The network has reached out to Sons of Anarchy and The Wire writer Chris Collins to both write the script for the pilot and serve as showrunner. The rest of the team behind the films will also be a part of the series with Basil Iwanyk, who produced the first two films and the upcoming third leading a producing team that includes Chad Stahelski, sho directed the first two movies and original franchise screenwriters David Leitch and Derek Kolstad.
Another person brought on to executive produce the series is John Wick star Keanu Reeves. Starz stated that Reeves will make an appearance as the character in the series, but will not star. Lionsgate, the studio that released the films owns Starz and a third movie in the franchise is set to be released in 2019.
