Jurassic World’s Ty Simpkins Says ‘SPIDER-MAN’ Role Would Be A Dream

Feb 12, 2015

An interesting exchange happened today on Twitter, as I commented on Slash Film’s wonderful list of Spider-Man hopefuls which included Iron Man 3‘s Ty Simpkins. Both of us pointing out Marvel could somehow reveal that Harley was in-fact Peter Parker the entire time.

The young actor who’ll be seen next alongside Star-Lord himself Chris Pratt in Jurassic World responded with this quote on Twitter about the idea.

“OMG! all my dreams would have come true. i think i was spiderman everyday between the ages of 4-5.”

There has been talk that Ty’s original character seen in Iron Man 3 could turn out to be a bigger Marvel character in the future. I don’t think it would be reaching to see the tech-wiz-kid lying about his name to Stark, who he might have wanted to impress giving himself a cooler sounding name. His banter between Stark and his dedication to technology/science gave the impression he’d make an excellent Spider-Man and Peter Parker, a balance we haven’t really seen in the films.

Ty will be fourteen this summer and if Marvel/Sony want to go super young for a high school aged Peter Parker, you couldn’t ask for a better actor. This sort of casting would allow the studios to really dig into the mind of a teen hero since a lot of the other names being mentioned are twenty year olds.

The rumored frontrunner for the role is Dylan O’Brien who is one of those twenty year old candidates we just spoke of.

Simpkins has the benefit of a working relationship with Marvel Studios, producer Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr.

It’s expected that we’ll first see Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and then his own solo film set to release in July 2017.
