Lone Wolf and Cub is a long-standing manga series from Japan and spawned five live-action films divided from a hyper violent Japanese mini-series. The western version being titled Shogun Assassin and referenced in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.
The story revolves around a proud samurai, who after the murder of his wife by the Shogun takes his young son in a wooden baby cart on the road as they go on the run. Trying to find a life of peace he is consistently fending-off assassins.
It has inspired countless feature films including James Mangold’s Logan.
THR has learned that Justin Lin‘s (Fast Five, Star Trek Beyond) incarnation of the film has landed at Paramount with Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker tasked to pen the film.
At one time Darren Aronofsky attempted his own version until the rights got away from him.
