Karl Urban Having “Discussions” To Reprise Dredd In ‘Mega-City One’

Aug 7, 2017

It was recently announced that IM Global would be pursuing a Dredd series titled Mega-City One, instead of a film. This was exciting at the time but there wasn’t any word if Karl Urban would be back in the lead role of Dredd.

Previously, both Dredd actors Karl Urban (Dredd) and Olivia Thirlby (Anderson) pledged their commitments to fans to be apart of whatever the sequel looked like.

It looks like there is indeed a chance to see Karl reprise the role as he confirms he’s in discussions about what his role in the series could look like while speaking at Star Trek Las Vegas 20117 (via Trek Movie).

“I am in discussions with them about that. I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to.”

While the series is indeed in development, Mega-City One hasn’t been picked up. Netflix and others were seemingly interested but nobody has grabbed it up just yet. I’m sure one big selling point would be having Urban returning, considering this is what fans have been campaigning for. Not some bullshit spinoff focused on other Judges or cheaply made animated series.
