Kevin Feige Says ‘Black Panther’ Links To ‘Avengers: Infinity War’; Should We Expect Aliens?

Dec 31, 2015

While talking with Empire, Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed Black Panther will be a “geopolitical” film, we’ve assumed this since Wakanda has kept their borders closed and blocked trading with other countries. I’ve had a hunch that Panther could be more like a Captain America film, with a bit of other genres mixed in.

He also revealed that the film will indeed link to Avengers: Infinity War.

“T’Challa’s story is very important to us as it links to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward.”

There’s a couple ways to take these quotes, one being that Wakanda could see some sort of alien invasion that has happen on more than a few occassions in the comics. Second, Panther and Wakanda having in their possession one of the many infinity gems. It could be just as simple as the nation developing inter-space travel.

The two camps I’m currently in concerning a villainous connection to Infinity War, might see the addition of the Skrulls or The Black Order. These two groups just happen to be pawns of big-bad Thanos.

Skrulls invaded Wakanda and had their asses handed to him. A version of Secret Invasion and the Skrull infiltration of the Avengers is how the studio could kill-off the main and supporting heroes, to make way for the next wave of heroes.

Black Order consists of loyal ranks of Thanos and are powerful enough to keep The Avengers on their toes. You’d really only need to include one of these characters, then follow-up with the rest in Infinity War.
