‘Kong: Skull Island’ Actress Jing Tian Joins ‘Pacific Rim: Maelstrom’

Sep 22, 2016

Variety reports that Chinese actress Jing Tian has joined the growing cast of Legendary’s Pacific Rim sequel Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.

Jing might be best known for her work in films alongside Chinese superstars such as Jackie Chan’s Police Story 2013, Chow Yun Fat’s From Vegas To Macau and Donnie Yen’s Special ID. She’ll be making her Hollywood debut soon with two other Legendary productions, Kong: Skull Island and China-set The Great Wall. The studio is obviously banking on her becoming a crossover star.

I wouldn’t be entirely shocked if Tian is taking a leading role in the film.

The rest of the cast includes lead John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and newcomer Cailee Spaeny, with Daredevil‘s Steven S. DeKnight directing.

They’ve also revealed that the film will be shot in both Australia and China.

The film begins production this November in Australia and will also film a portion in China.

It’s release date is set for February 23rd, 2018.
