Kraven The Hunter Could Get A Solo Movie; Someone Call Jason Momoa!

Jun 21, 2017

It doesn’t look like Sony is slowing down their Marvel branch anytime soon.

The Hollywood Reporter also says that along with Venom/Silver and Black the studio is eyeing developing projects for villains Kraven The Hunter and Mysterio as well.

Other projects will focus on Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio. The idea, says a studio source, is to build out a world gradually rather than launch one immediately, as they had been trying with Spider-Man villain ensemble Sinister Six, which has been shelved.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Kraven’s name linked to these new films as Holland has mentioned a desire to see him and a recent rumor suggested he could be introduced in Silver and Black, which shoots this fall. We’ve seen multiple incarnations of Kraven over the years, even at one point playing mentor to Peter Parker. So, it’s possible they might want to make him more of an anti-hero, not unlike Tom Hardy’s Venom.

Holland had suggested that Justice League and Aquaman star Jason Momoa would be perfect for the role of Kraven. Considering a role like this might be stepping outside of the MCU, it could mean that Jason might be able to do this.

Jason might be a little too busy to tackle another comic book role. Although, he had been attached to star in The Crow remake until things recently folded before Aquaman started shooting in Australia. Nabbing Jason would be similar to their recent hiring of Tom Hardy as Venom, in my opinion, they’ll need another large personality for roles like these.

At one point, he had been teased as one of the members of Drew Goodard’s failed Sinister Six movie.

Mysterio is an illusionist that turns to a life of crime which could play to the Now You See Me crowd. Although, I’m not sure he could support his own solo film as someone like Kraven could.

There no further details on these potential spinoffs.
