Mar 23, 2016

Swedish effects guru David Sandberg blew us away when he revealed his Kickstarter pitch for Kung Fury. A short film that would homage basically everything from the 80’s mashed into one crazy little project.

You can watch the entire short film below.

The short was a huge success and proved the young director has a lot of promise with oozing visual style up the the ying-yang.

Now, Variety reports that David has landed the director’s chair for New Line’s Annabelle sequel. This won’t be his first horror debut, as he’s already working on Lights Out which is also being produced by James Wan. They also credit Bloody Disgusting for first picking-up that he was in talks for the gig.

There’s no word if the original cast will be returning.

It’ll be crazy to see what he can do with an actual studio budget, even more so within the horror genre.┬áThis is certainly a horror project we need to keep our eyes on.
