Kurt Russell and Dylan O’Brien Looking To Join Mark Wahlberg In ‘Deep Water Horizon’

Apr 10, 2015

Variety is reporting that legendary actor Kurt Russell (Furious 7, The Hateful Eight) is in talks to take a key role in Peter Berg‘s Deep Water Horizon starring Mark Wahlberg and Gina Rodriguez. The film will tell the story of the Deep Water Horizon off-shore oil-rig owned by BP that caused one of the worst oil spills in U.S. history dumping an unfathomable amount of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Deadline adds that Dylan O’Brien is also in talks with the studio for a role.

I’m not the biggest fan of Peter Berg, but I’m hoping for the best since their were glimpses of excellent direction in Lone Survivor. It would be nice if he didn’t force audiences to suffer through another one of his horrible on-screen cameos.

Deep Water Horizon, setup at Lionsgate has an Oscar friendly release date of September 30th, 2016.
