Larson Shooting ‘Avengers’ Scenes In January and ‘Captain Marvel’ Begins On March 26th?

Jan 16, 2018

It’s starting to look like Brie Larson might be filming scenes as Captain Marvel this month, but it’s unlikely for her solo film.

Recently, there was an updated start date of January 18th (previously January 22nd) we uncovered. When this was revealed to us we stopped to consider what was really going on with Captain Marvel as this was the third start date we’ve seen for the solo project.

MCUExchange first caught word of multiple start dates but their theory was that Captain Marvel would begin in January, pause, then resume in March. Speculating there could some involvement with Avengers 4 but didn’t provide evidence at the time of their report back in November.

Well, we have dates to support this and it looks like the January shoot isn’t for Captain Marvel but for Avengers. There is indeed another start date for March 26th (Omega Underground’s own reporting) but you don’t have multiple start dates on a film like this, it’s very uncommon because of the costs involved of a hiatus.

Mainly, its confusing for the crew and it’s not normal for productions to shoot for a couple of days then go on hiatus for two months then resume filming. That’s really not a thing that happens because you have to pay the crew for those two months (when filming was rumored to pause) and they’d likely be filming, a studio books a block of stage and crew time. It’s not a month by month thing. It would be like Marvel just burning a pile of money by not filming for those two months.

However, we’ve not seen a single casting call for Captain Marvel for the month of January or February making the January start date very suspicious to us. The second reason came within the last week or so, Omega Underground has uncovered a couple of Avengers casting calls which would line up when Brie Larson was expected to shoot some scenes this month around January 18-22. What’s likely really going on is that Larson is involved with these Avengers shoots on January 17th and 21st in Atlanta.

While the wrap party took place recently filming is still happening for the next couple of days.

This suggests the January shoot is actually for Brie’s Avengers scenes using their crew and not the start of Captain Marvel’s production. It’s unknown which Avengers installment it’s for because The Russos have been shooting scenes out of sequence the entire time and even actors don’t know which film each scene is for.

We’ll likely know more in the coming days so stay tuned to Omega Underground.

Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
