Today, Deadline announced that two of the four main characters from the upcoming Archie reboot series has been cast. They have announced that Lili Reinhart from Surviving Jack as been cast as Betty Cooper. They go onto reveal that former Disney channel star Cole Sprouse from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody has been cast as Jughead in the series. They have yet to cast Veronica Lodge or the lead character Archie Andrews in the series.
The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl producer Greg Berlanti will also be producing this upcoming comic book reboot. The show was originally gonna debut on FOX but has since switched networks to The CW.
Set in present time, Riverdale, is a subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.
