Linda Hamilton Returns For Tim Miller’s ‘Terminator’ – Sequel To ‘T2’ and Start of A Trilogy

Sep 20, 2017

Tim Miller‘s new Terminator film to begin filming next year isn’t as much of a reboot as some outlets have suggested. HollywoodReporter has learned that the real Sarah Connor will be returning as Linda Hamilton is set for return alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The news was announced at Miller and James Cameron’s Terminator event held by Skydance.

“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.”

“There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys,” he said, referring to aging male actors still anchoring movies, “but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

We’ve also learned that David Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade), Charles Eglee (Dark Angel), andJosh Friedman (Sarah Connor Chronicles) will be penning the film’s script in a writers room.

James Cameron, busy with his Avatar franchise will be producing the film.

It’s starting to look like the film will instead of rebooting potentially retcon the last three films and is acting as a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Sarah taking the lead again would be interesting even more so at Hamilton’s age, which we don’t often see as pointed out by Cameron. Like we’ve been reporting for weeks, the Terminator 6 title is bogus.

Curious if this idea Miller and Cameron hatched together came from Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 idea to also retcon previous sequels after Cameron left the Alien franchise with an older Sigourney Weaver.
