For months we have heard that Hasbro in partnership with Paramount was looking to create a “cinematic universe” based on their own characters. The Hasbro Cinematic Universe would include the already established G.I.Joe characters but would then go onto include Visionaries, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) and ROM characters.
Now today The Hollywood Reporter announced has learned what screenwriters have been hired to take on the task of crossing over these classic 80 characters. Akiva Goldsman will head this writers room (just like he did for the Transformers films) but he has assemble an all star team of writers which include many writers from the Marvels Cinematic Universe:
Novelist Michael Chabon who wrote The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Y: The Last Man and The Runaways comic book writer Brain K. Vaughn. Marvel’s Captain Marvel co-writer Nicole Perlman. Kingkiller Chronicle writer Lindsey Beer. Marvel’s Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Coker. Spider-Man: Homecoming co-writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Marvel’s Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole. The Dark Tower screenwriter Jeff Pinkner. Dogfight screenwriter from the Blacklist Nicole Riegel. With a co-writer on the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot film Geneva Robertson.
The first meeting between them all will be held Monday on the Paramount lot. CCO Stephen Davis added “We first and foremost put together a list of writers who we wanted to be in business with and could be the world-builders that we needed, But we want to be sure that in the room we have diverse perspectives, diverse backgrounds and diverse experiences. Female empowerment is a central theme through a lot of these properties and one of the reasons we wanted diverse voices.”
G.I.Joe 3 will be next on the slate for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe
