‘Luke Cage’ Actor Mike Colter Seemingly Reveals ‘Iron Fist’ Has Been Cast

Jan 29, 2016

During an interview with Jessica Jones and Luke Cage actor Mike Colter, who plays the former, reveals to Collider that an actor has been cast in the Iron Fist role. However, that actor’s name likely won’t be revealed officially for some time. He also is unsure if Cage will appear in the series, even though the pair of superheroes are best friends and crime fighting partners.

“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”

We’ve known for months that the television division has been testing white and Asian-American actors for the role, with some chatter pointing to Marvel ultimately casting a white actor for the Danny Rand role. This is by no means official confirmation, but it sounds like Colter is confident Marvel has found their man. Some are speculating that Rand could be introduced in the Luke Cage series, but he might be better off given his own origin story in his own show like Daredevil and Jones. Colter didn’t confirm if Fist would have scenes in his series, even though the original question sort of alluded to it.

Scott Buck of Dexter will be showrunning the Iron Fist series, with Jessica Jones‘ Scott Reynolds (The Following, Dexter) recently outing himself as one of the writers of show.
