Jun 7, 2016

Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis has joined the growing cast of Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2 according to Variety, which stars Ryan Gosling as the new leading hero.

Davis is best known for her small supporting role in Ridley Scott’s The Martian along with her series Halt and Catch Fire, she had also been in the running for the lead role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Ridley Scott isn’t directing the sequel to his 1982 sci-fi stunner, but has been heavily involved in it’s development and will stay on as a producer.

Harrison Ford is expected to make a return as Deckard in the third act of the film.

The actress-heavy cast includes Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Canadian-Cuban actress Ana de Armas, Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks, and Swiss actress Carla Juri.

If successful it’s been said there could be even more sequels.

Blade Runner 2 will be in theatres on October 6th, 2017.
