Today, Variety announced that Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, The Wold of Wall Street) is set to play Maid Marian in an upcoming Robin Hood type movie. While this shouldn’t be confused with Taron Egerton’s already in production Robin Hood: Origins. This take on the character will be brand new as she takes up the mantle of The Hood.
The film follows the classic character from the “Robin Hood” stories. In this new take, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war after the love of her life, Robin Hood, dies. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom, but also see her don the mantle of the man she loved.
The film was written by Pete Barry and will be produced by Sony Pictures as well as Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
