Marion Cotillard Takes Lead In ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Opposite Michael Fassbender

Feb 13, 2015

It’s starting to look like Fox’s Assassin’s Creed film will be a huge Macbeth reunion, as according to Deadline Oscar winning actress Marion Cotillard (Dark Knight Returns, Inception) will take the female lead in the film. Her role is the film isn’t being mentioned but she’s played both villains and heroines.

Michael Fassbender stars as the lead in Creed and previously worked with Marion in new Macbeth film coming later this year. The pair of actors will also be reunited with director Justin Kurzel who will have made both films.

The film is based on the fan-favorite video game franchise from Ubisoft which mixes futuristic science fiction, time-travel and action adventure. It’s expected to begin production this fall with it’s release date set for December 21st, 2016. Although, with the first Star Wars spin-off dropping a week earlier Fox might want to move that release date.

Marion is currently nominated for Best Actress for her performance in the French film Two Days, One Night. I’d also recommend checking-out Rust and Bone if you get the chance.
