Marvel Announces ‘The Runaways’ TV Series is Headed to Hulu

Aug 17, 2016

Today, Marvel announced that the long rumored Runaways TV Series will be headed to the online streaming service Hulu. This comes at a bit of a shock considering Netflix has been their go-to-place for all things Marvel. If it be streaming episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or their original shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

However, a film adaptation of the classic Brain K. Vaughn was in the works back in Marvel’s Phase I lineup. It would have been directed by Peter Berg and written by Drew Pearce. Who went onto write Iron Man III for Marvel. Unfortunately, Marvel soon realized a teen superhero movie wouldn’t fit into their universe leading to the first Avengers.

This upcoming series will be showrunned by The O.C and Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Marvel’s Runaways will tell the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents. Hulu has yet to officially announce the series but did order a full season worth of scripts.
