First supporting cast news on Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot has finally been announced. According to Deadline former Disney Channel star and singer Zendaya has been cast alongside Tom Holland (The Impossible) in the upcoming reboot. She is one of a few actress who screen tested for the role of ‘Michele’ but obviously this is a stand in name before her actual role is revealed.
Ironically a few day’s ago the twitter page Geeks Of Color fancast her as a possible Mary Jane Watson. However, Deadline goes onto report that she may not end up being Peter Parker’s love interest. The Hollywood Reporter adds she is not cast in a lead role. Never-the-less this is a great step for Marvel adding some diversity to their films given the back lash caused by fans who were upset that Danny Rand was cast as a white blonde hair blue eyed male.
Spider-Man is going to make his MCU debut this May in Captain America: Civil War
Sources tell me that Marvel/Sony has been looking to go heavily non-white with the SPIDER-MAN supporting cast.

Peter Parker's best friend, for example, could be Asian if they find the right actor.
