In a surprise announcement it appears Matt Damon will be re-teaming with Taika Waititi for a role in Thor: Love and Thunder. Its unclear what role Damon will play or if he will be reprising his cameo role from Thor: Ragnarok but Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison seemingly confirms his involvement in the filming currently going down in the land down under.
“Hollywood superstar Matt Damon joining our homegrown talent to film such a major movie in NSW is a big win creating thousands of jobs for locals,”Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison
Damon himself also seems to confirm in additional comments about him filming on the continent.
“Australian film crews are world renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it. I’d like to thank the enormous support provided by the NSW government and Australian government, without which this would not have been possible.”Matt Damon
In his previous role in Thor: Ragnarok, Damon portrayed and Asgardian actor playing Loki during a play paying homage to Loki’s noble sacrifice. Again its unclear if he will be reprising this same role for another humorous cameo or if this time around he is playing someone more substantial to the story and Thor mythos.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently filming in Australia with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson and Jaimie Alexander all set to appear and is slated for a May 6th, 2022 release.
