Matthew Vaughn Looking To Reboot ‘Kick-Ass’ and Make ‘Hit-Girl’ Movie For Netflix?

Jun 9, 2018

Recently, Netflix bought the rights to a bunch of Mark Millar comic book characters which includes Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl.

Empire reports that Matthew Vaughn is looking to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl which likely means we will see Patience Lee, a black single mother who takes up the mantle in the comics. They also say he is aiming to make a Hit-Girl movie as well.

“The filmmaker is planning a reboot of the Kick-Ass series — and while he won’t confirm which incarnation of the character it would involve, he does strongly hint that Patience Lee, an African-American single mother who’s taken on the vigilante mantle, could be in the frame. A solo Hit-Girl film is also in discussion, and could either focus on an older Mindy Macready, or look at her younger years growing up under the tutelage of Big Daddy. “We’re going to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl,” Vaughn confirms. “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.”

This gives the impression Netflix and Vaughn could be looking to recast the roles since they aren’t under any obligation to keep actors who have ages out of their roles.

Netflix has yet to make any official announcements what their plans are with the violent heroes.
