Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Robocop, The Road, Boadwalk Empire, Night Of) had been keen on landing the Black Manta role in James Wan’s Aquaman, but the role went to someone else and Williams has nabbed a bigger role.
Variety reports the character actor has joined Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo: A Star Wars Story in a key role.
It’s unknown what this role is but Han is known to mingle with the criminal underbelly of the Star Wars universe. Michael could easily be playing a fellow smuggler, pirate or bounty hunter in the film.
The actor joins Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Han Solo has been in production since January and has the release date of May 25th, 2018.
