Deadline has learned that House of Cards actress Molly Parker will be reuniting with Netflix for another project, as she’ll be joining Black Sails actor Toby Stephens in their reboot of Lost In Space. Film and television director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Decent, Black Sails, Westworld, Hannibal) will be producing the series and directing several episodes.
Lost in Space takes its cues from the original CBS series, revolving around the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, the Robinsons find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and their own personal demons.
Parker will be playing the role of fearless and brilliant aerospace engineer Maureen Robinson, while Stephens will play her husband astrophysicist John Robinson.
Previously cast in the role of their children are Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson and Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson.
There’s no word who will be playing the villainous Dr. Smith, Gary Oldman played the character in the feature adaptation. Marshall is best known for directing some of the more action heavy episodes of Game of Thrones, so it’ll be interesting to see what level of science fiction action adventure we’ll be getting here.
The series is said to be launching sometime in 2018.
