Nathan Fillion Playing Wonder Man In ‘Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2’?

Apr 25, 2016

Nathan Fillion has been apart of Guardians of The Galaxy case before, playing one of the alien inmates in the first film. However, according to some set photos from the set of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 he’ll will get to play an actual comic book member of the Avengers.

As it’s been revealed via Comic Book that Nathan is playing Simon Williams, the actor turned superhero known as Wonder Man. There are claims that there is a Simon Williams film festival at the centre of the Earthbound scenes currently being shot in Georgia, with Nathan’s face as Simon on these posters.

Here’s a little bit of background on the character from the site.

In the Marvel Comics Universe, Simon Williams is a former member of the Masters of Evil, and brother of villain the Grim Reaper, who reformed and joined the Avengers. Williams eventually retired from the Avengers to pursue an acting career. He was later dragged back into the Avengers’ active roster, despite becoming a pacifist, as a member of the Avengers Unity Division. He paid the ultimate price while defending the Earth from the Apocalypse Twins.

I wouldn’t classify this as a spoiler, mainly because Marvel would have done a better job at keeping these posters hidden if it was going to be a kept a huge Earth-shattering secret. The studio hasn’t named the bulk of the new cast members or who they are playing, so it’s not surprising they hadn’t announced Nathan’s addition to the project. James Gunn and Marvel could have also easily added these posters in post.

Wonder Man could be an excellent addition for the lineup of Avengers: Infinity War, so we’ll have to keep that in mind.

Simon’s best friend on the Avengers just happened to be Hank McCoy aka Beast, who actually got his trademark blue fur from his time as an Avenger.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released on May 5th, 2017.
